North Augusta fast-food manager pocketed deposits, police say

NORTH AUGUSTA -- A manager of a North Augusta McDonald’s has been arrested after police say she bilked the store for nearly $20,000.

According to a public safety report, Sonya Frails, 42, of the 700 block of Faircloth Common in Evans, offered to make deposits for other managers of the McDonald’s at 1831 Georgia Avenue between March 6 and March 10.

Employees said she had also come in on her days off to make the deposit for on-duty managers. Officers found a black box in Ms. Frails’ car containing $468.89 and nine deposit slips. She told officers that the money belonged to McDonald's.

Ms. Frails said she took the money to pay for medical bills and other personal reasons and that she had planned to pay it back.

She was arrested Thursday and charged with breach of trust greater than $5,000.
