Columbia County authorities are investigating a robbery at the Fifth Third Bank at the corner of Wheeler and South Belair roads in Martinez.

The robbery was reported about 3:25 p.m. today and involved a single suspect who witnesses said fled on foot through a wooded area in the general direction of the Ridge Crossing apartments.

A canine tracking team was summoned to the area. Officers at the scene said they could not immediately provide further details.

Things work easier this

Things work easier this way..He probably is behind on his mortage and faces foreclosure so instead of waiting on OBama to confiscate my money from the bank, he went and made a withdrawal for himself. He eliminated the middleman called government!

lol some of you ppl from CC

lol some of you ppl from CC crack me up. When yall get crime or ghettos all of sudden its ppl from RC. So sad when you think about it. I used to live in Evans before moving to West Augusta/Martinez 30907 in richmond. My car was broken into and my neighbor's house was broken into. While I was staying in Evans. So columbia county definitely has its share of thugs. And Ridge crossing is worse than most of the bad areas in South Augusta. Like Barton village

Too bad Evans isn't like it

Too bad Evans isn't like it was when I lived there. My parents owned a 100 acre farm and when I graduated there were only 32 of us.
Of course Evans Public School went from 1st grade to 12th in the school they just tore down!!!!
Back then the worst crime was bootleggin' and teens getting caught smoking or speeding!!
Am I telling my age? Yep!!
RC to me was the BIG city, couldn't wait to graduate and move to Augusta. Went to work for Ma Bell and thought I was living high when I got an apt. across the st. at the Maxwell House & we all know what that is now.
Moved away for over 40 years and when I moved back here, I don't stray far from my home, can't find my way. Got lost in Evans & ended up in Appling!!!!
So, y'all want to make fun of things and the way they are, go ahead, it's your right, but I have to sit back and laugh because you really have no idea of how bad it really has gotten, you just think you do!!!!

Crime is blind. It doesn't

Crime is blind. It doesn't care where it happens at. I used to party in Buckhead in Atlanta back in my younger days, and man that was the place to be. Nowadays, you hear of people gettng shot and raped and mugged there all the time. Crime is no respector of People or Places.

You are right Sprintman, CC

You are right Sprintman, CC residents are quick to blame any crime on RC residents better than owning up to it. As CC grows, so will crime. I dont think CC is a gated community. There are many people out there dealing and smoking dope. Breaking in cars and houses or yeah and lets not forget the non-driving soccer moms, talking on their cell phones who will cut you a** of in traffic in a heartbeat.
