State Sen. Ed Tarver’s proposal to reform the Augusta-Richmond County Coliseum Authority doesn’t sit well with its Chairman Richard Isdell.

Mr. Isdell said today it would reduce the authority to seven members – three appointed by one super-district Augusta commissioner, three by the other super-district commissioner and the seventh by the commission as a whole.

Mr. Isdell said if three and three were appointed by Don Grantham and J.R. Hatney, that would likely lead to a tie on controversial votes, with the seventh member deciding the issue every time.

“I think it’s crazy,” Mr. Isdell said.

The bill would also bar current board members from serving on the new board, he said, which would make everyone on the authority appear equally to blame for its past troubles.

Of course Isdell doesn't

Of course Isdell doesn't think it is a good idea. That self-important goofball and most of the rest of those clowns fancy themselves as being in powerful posts they don't want to give up.
For the love of Pete, run the entire bunch off and put people on the board who have a clue about the mission and operation of a civic center.
That means people with a vested interest in the promotion and success of the CSRA; people like those who operate the Convention and Visitors Bureau for one...

When is the local government
Unpublished

When is the local government going to reaalize there is a severe
recession in this area as well as the entire country? This crock about there is not a major housing problem, a growing unemployment, a cutback in spending causing less income for the county in the way of taxes, and home values should be reassessed to their true value which is considerably less than
the past assessment. Fred Russell, the commissioners, the civic center commission , and all other dept. of government need to quit some services for now and stop spending money on things
that could wait until more properous times. There needs to be
some accountability on the part of government spending. Richmond Countians need to hold the commissioner responsible for spending on foolish or pet project for now. If they wish to spend, vote them out!

I like it! Get them all out.

I like it! Get them all out. A word to the wise, though....don't appoint goofballs to run the Colosseum. Appoint business people that might actually know how to run an institution that has to advertise to get business. Word of mouth will not fill the arena!

These are the folks who thought that I, a taxpayer, should foot the legal bills for fighters and cheaters on the coliseum authority. Good riddance to them all.

I think its a great idea, and

I think its a great idea, and if it will get rid of [filtered word] Isdell,
it will really get the thing aimed in a better direction. We need
hockey back at the JB Arena, and Isdell is not smart enough to
know that...
