Isaac Lewis and Rufus Hamilton were charged with trafficking marijuana and are being held without bond at the Columbia County Detention Center, according to an e-mail sent by Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.

A search warrant was issued by the sheriff’s office narcotics unit, and the drugs, with a street value of about $250,000, were found at about 9:30 a.m. at the Flowing Wells Industrial Park storage units located at 472 Flowing Wells Road, said Capt. Morris. Authorities seized 16 bags, each containing 25 pounds of marijuana, he said.

The storage unit was being rented by Mr. Lewis, Capt. Morris wrote.

A month-long investigation was conducted by the sheriff’s offices of Richmond, Aiken and Columbia counties and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Aiken County authorities also searched Mr. Lewis’ house at the 1300 block of Hampton Avenue today at about 11:30 a.m. No additional drugs were found, but police did seize a Ford Explorer and utility trailer, which were used for the transportation of the marijuana, as well as a stolen motorcycle, said Aiken County sheriff’s Capt. Troy Elwell.

Capt. Morris said the investigation is ongoing.

Issac and Rufus weren't careful. Must have trusted the wrong person. Now they have lots of time to think about better decisions.

Margot

400 pounds, that's hard to believe.

GACopperhead

Now how's a guy supposed to have any fun? No hookers, no weed...what's the world coming to?

GAC - YOU can always have fun fantasizing about Obama!

TheOne

The estimated street value seems low to me at $625 a pound. I'm no expert in the matter today, but 30 years ago the price on the streets was around 400 - 500+. Just saying......

TerryJr shows his great intelligence again.

TrulyWorried

I have always wondered what would happen if that weed were to be declared legal?

As It Is

Good job to all of these agencies working together to get these drugs and thugs off of the streets.
