Two Richmond county schools lost electrical power this morning after a trailer truck clipped a powerline.

Academy of Richmond County and Lamar Elementary lost service about 9:30 a.m. when the truck clipped a power pole, said Louis Svehla, spokesman for Richmond County Board of Education.

ARC began dismissing students at 11:30 a.m., because Georgia Power had to cut off power to the school to complete repairs. Lamar Elementary pupils will remain in class and will be fed a cold lunch.

I just wish that these people that report the news can get it right.
Elementary have been without power since 9:30 this morning when the truck clipped the telephone poll. It is not a telephone poll, What is a POLL? It is a UTILITY POLE. Were do they get these people from? Stephanie. I hope that you read this.

drumbeater - you forgot the other term for it - light pole. It doesn't matter if they're utility poles in place for holding wires, they're still light poles. ; - )

Their is a problem, with some of you people.Instead of people talking about the dismissal of High School children. Being release to go home early, while the younger kids stay in school and be serve cold lunch. You are worried about a utility pole.

I doubt any private schools

I doubt any private schools would have fallen apart if the power went out. Another good reason for vouchers.
