SAVANNAH, Ga. -- One of the two elderly residents burned during an early morning apartment fire is being flown to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Savannah-Chatham Metro police said today.

The identities of both women badly burned this morning after a fire broke out at the Woods of Savannah was unknown, said Gene Harley, metro police spokesman.

Savannah Fire & Emergency Services remained at the scene this morning putting out hot spots and investigating what caused a blaze at the complex, which was occupied by many who were elderly and disabled.
