A man has fallen down a well in Harlem.

The 23-year-old man fell 10 feet down a 24-foot well at about 3 p.m. today, according to Columbia County Emergency and Operations Director Pam Tucker.

The man, who Ms. Tucker said might be an Augusta firefighter, was working on the well off Sawdust Road. According to reports, he was above water and holding on to a plastic pipe.

A rescue team from Martinez-Columbia Fire and Rescue was en route to the scene with a tripod and rope to pull the man out, Ms. Tucker said.
