In the past four years, sheriffs deputies have responded to 53 service calls to The Shack, 38 of those after 2 a.m., according to the sheriff's office.
At The Spot, deputies have responded to 121 calls, 98 of which were after 2 a.m., and since December, the after-hours bar has been the site of two shootings that injured four people, the sheriff's office said today.
On Tuesday night the Aiken County Council approved on second reading an ordinance that would require bars in the county to close by 2 a.m. The council will consider final approval of the bill at its next meeting.
