David Cannon, a former James Brown trustee, is in jail in Aiken County on contempt of court charges after turning himself in at the sheriff’s office Wednesday afternoon.

Judge Jack Early with the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court ordered Mr. Cannon to repay more than $400,000 to the James Brown Estate by yesterday or spend six months in jail.

Mr. Cannon filed an appeal on Tuesday, which was denied.

The former trustee had resigned in 2007 from his role as one of the administrators of the late entertainer's estate amid allegations he misappropriated thousands of dollars from Mr. Brown's accounts.

doing a internet search on

doing a internet search on this guys name shows that he's been screwing James Brown for years and totally prohibited his wife from accessing anything after the passing of the Godfather. I guess white guys can't do EVERYTHING down in the south and get away with it.

I agree that what Mr Cannon

I agree that what Mr Cannon did was terribly wrong. But, however I do not see the point in throwing the race card into the mix. After all the only people who truely believe in such a racist remark are not only uneducated but they themselves are the racist pigs ! Again, what Mr Cannon did was horrible and I agree he should pay for his GREED and Stupidity.

B/HUGHES you are absolutely

B/HUGHES you are absolutely correct. This has nothing to do w/ RACE and there was no need to inject RACE into this. This is one of the reasons I left Augusta 8 years ago. Everything became a race issue even it was necessary.

It seems every person that

It seems every person that handled J.B.s money was a stealing skank. His lack of education left him open to millions being stolen by people he trusted. Another sad chapter in the story of James Brown.

FedupwithAUG, he will only

FedupwithAUG, he will only have to pay taxes if he is a Republican. Seems that Dems get a PASS on paying taxes these days, yet they are the ones who want them raised on everyone else.

I'm glad that loser is in

I'm glad that loser is in jail, but, what's up with the money??? He does six months and not have to pay back a dime. It's absurb! I'm not acriminal, but would possibly think of doing six months for that kind of money. Hey, not worying about any bills, and living off of taxpayers money, irregardless of how sorry the food is or how small the living quarters are.:{ Get out and live well,Caviar, Champayne, etc...Loser!

You know, it appears to me that the IRS could make him pay taxes on that money, and should make him pay for his imprisonment too. And, of course he will proclaim not having the money, but, he could be arrested for a greater length of time, and have all his wordly possessions confiscated on those charges. Outrageous!
