Authorities this morning are still trying to identify a body found Tuesday night behind a trailer in Windsor, S.C.
Aiken County Sheriffs Capt. Troy Elwell said a man who was collecting cans in the area smelled the body and found it lying behind the home in the 50 block of Stillwater Road.
About all I can tell you right now is its believed to me a male - believed to be a black male, Capt. Elwell said. Hes been at the location for some amount of time. Weeks at the minimum.
The man who found the body, whose name was not made public, was arrested on several outstanding warrants. Capt. Elwell said they are not related to the case and that the man is not a suspect.
An autopsy conducted on the man, believed to be between 20-30 years old, has ruled a gunshot wound was the cause of death, according to a news release from Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton. Because of the severity of decomposition, the man has not yet been positively identified. Mr. Carlton stated that DNA analysis will be needed for an ID.
How does one go from reporting a crime to being arrested?
He had outstanding warrants.
No good deed goes unpunished. Well I guess you should probably figure if you have several warrants that eventually you go to jail, even when you report finding a body. Unless they find your body behind a trailer and then all of your warrants are forgiven.
I know he had outstanding warrants, what I am saying is I did not realize if you report a crime they do a background check on you. I have reported crimes before and I have never had to go through that. They would not find anything anyway.
Does anyone feel bad that there is a john doe in the morgue right now? That man that was found is somebody's son, father, husband or brother. Nobody deserves to die like that and the fact that he has been there a while is very dishearting.
Everyone is going to die some way or the other eventually unless Jesus comes before then. The question is, "are you ready?" Have you repented and turned to God for salvation? Those who have Jesus as their savior by faith and faith alone will live forever in God's presence. Those who reject His salvation will live eternally in a devil's hell, in torment. Will you come to Jesus in faith today?
Painter----I think you have been sniffing too many paint fumes.
Tired of the BS - Why did you say that to Painter? He/She is right on the money, whether you believe it or not.
Thats the man who was accused by the white lady from South Carolina,Susan Smith who pushed her car in the river while her two son sleptand said a black man kidnapped her kids.
Keep spreading the Good News wherever and whenever you choose Painter...One this is certain you are speaking truth so it doesn't matter who says what the seed has been planted...
Amen Painter
Kissofdeath....HUH???
Concerned Citizen, ditto from me...in other words Kissofdeath...HUH???
PAINTER, etal: This unfortunate individual will lie in his grave for eons and eons, unknowing, unfeeling and UNCARING; a much better outcome than playing the harp all day and night while blowing in the wind, mumbling "glories, glories" to a supernatural, omnipresent NOTHING. GGpap
Well said, Painter!
damn bugd got to eat as well as the scorpions
Amen Painter......as far as doing background checks on finding a body, they probably did not do one. His name was evidently on a list of wanted and an officer recognized it. Then they probably did checks on him.
Where was he that he could go unnoticed for weeks at minimum?
If you have ever been to Windsor you would know. It is 90% sticks back in the woods.
"Does anyone feel bad that there is a john doe in the morgue right now?" ------ Yes, but at the same time this gives a bad message to the community, too. You want anyone to be able to report something this serious without fear. Even if it's a murderer, if he can report of another murder it's better than not finding the body for years later, if ever. This article tells us they'll do background checks on those who report, and that has a chilling affect. Aiken needs to rethink what they report, let alone do something to ensure the community can report crimes without fear. Not everyone has a squeaky clean past, but that shouldn't prevent them from trying to "do the right thing". There's no telling how long that body would've been there if this can collector didn't go searching, and no telling how long a family couldn't have gotten closure (as families need a body to grieve to have it).
Too many murders in the CSRA.
