Martinez man released on bond

  • Follow Latest News

A Martinez man accused of keeping explosive devices in his home was released from jail on Friday.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Department has charged Chad Wells, 37, of the 300 block of Sally Drive, with possession of explosive devices, said Capt. Steve Morris.

He was booked at the Columbia County Detention last week after being released from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center. He was admitted to the burn center last month after losing some fingers in a small blast at his home days before federal and local authorities found the explosives.

Mr. Wells was released on a $25,100 bond.

How has Wells become a

How has Wells become a domestic terrorist? Again, Innocent until proven guilty. I'm not referring to the explosives charges either. That does not make one a domestic or any other kind of terrorist.

My theory? He wasn't

My theory? He wasn't practicing but trying to set a trap for the person or persons who stole his truck and broke into his house, in case they came back, and things went wrong. Can't be a nervous wreck working with that stuff, and he probably was pretty shaky after having all his valuables and his vehicle stolen. I suppose if he'd been a hunter, in security or a target shooter, he would have stuck to a gun or guns. But he knew explosives better (apparently not well enough), so tried to defend what was leff of his property with the explosives. Just a theory.

"plus his neighbors may want

"plus his neighbors may want to know this moron is out on bond." ------ Yep, especially considering they may want to move to a safer location, as that dude could've built something larger and made the neighborhood go up in smoke. Didn't take much for McVeigh to bring that federal building, nothing much more than some fuel, fertilizer and a rented truck. Yo, neighbors: if you see that dude with a UHAUL, get out ASAP!!!!

"How has Wells become a

"How has Wells become a domestic terrorist?" ------ Buying illegal stuff online to make bombs. You don't buy illegal bomb making stuff for "fireworks" or "home security", you buy them to kill others off your own property. His psychological makeup isn't even healthy: the death of a girlfriend (who committed suicide -- why would a recent med grad do that????); the incident with the assistant coroner; a robbery of his firearms and more; and he lives by himself to brood over it all with the paranoia of not trusting the government/law enforcement/and maybe even his neighbors (as someone he knows knew about his weapons and stoled them -- that's how firearm theft usually occurs). All the markers of a budding terrorist. You want to believe he's innocent, but the markers would make a FBI behaviorist cringe.
