Woman arrested on arson charge

A 46-year-old Augusta woman was arrested today in an arson case that was reported last year.

Aleshia Ann Wills, of the 600 block of Forsythe Street, was charged with felony arson - first degree, according to jail records.

The incident she is charged in was reported to police on Dec. 11 at a home on Walker Street. According to a sheriff's office report, officers were called to the Walker Street home on a report of someone pouring gas on the side of the residence.

A witness told police that he saw somoeone pour the gas and light a tissue on fire trying to set the home on fire, the report states. Police said they noticed an odor of gas, a burned tissue and burn marks.
