Injuries in morning wreck on Washington Road in Evans

  • Follow Latest News

A two-vehicle wreck in front of the Pizza Joint in Evans caused multiple injuries this morning.

The wreck occurred at about 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Washington and Old Evans roads. A dark-colored Nissan Titan was flipped on its side in the front lawn of Pizza Joint. The driver and passenger in a gold Honda Accord were transported to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Westbound traffic on Washington Road was briefly halted. One eastbound lane and one westbound lane were opened for traffic, while emergency crews were working to clear the roadways.

A Columbia County dispatcher said at least one person involved in the wreck was unconscious.

That's a rough intersection

That's a rough intersection for cars of any type. You wait to get out, people slow as if letting you out, you start, and then they speed up and cut you off. Or people change lanes right there for some reason.

I'll bet that one or both

I'll bet that one or both cars have southern license plates. You know how we all in the South like to be like Jimmie Johnson.

The last line of the article

The last line of the article states that at least one person was taken away from the accident unconscious and here you all are making light of it. You don't know the extent of the injuries that are involved here. Can you really not think of anything other than showing your own stupidity and callousness to all of Augusta and the surrounding area? Please humble yourselves for a moment and think about those who have been injured and their families. They are more important than you are at this time.

Concerned: I agree with your comments, except the article says "undisclosed injuries", not unconscious. Where did you get that?

I've been sitting in the outdoor dining section of The Pizza Joint when an accident occured and thought I was going to have to scramble for safety. That intersection is very dangerous, and there we are, sitting within a few yards of it trying to enjoy a meal and beers. Mark my words. One of these days, an accident will cause a vehicle to crash into the outdoor dining section of that place because everyone is in such a big damn hurry and won't slow down and use caution. I hope the folks involved in today's wreck will be alright.
