Five days into a new year.

Five days into a new year. Time to pass and enforce laws that are already on the books. Any crime that involves a firearm should come with a mandatory twenty-five year sentence upon conviction, with no early release. No first offender status for any violent crime conviction.

I think it's sad that these young men, well boys trying to imitate rap music and a life that they don't have to live, they are making it hard for themselves, just taking anothers life like it's no problem.I would stay in my car before i stay in that part of town,I'm raising 2 daughters and I move from Atlanta to come back home and it's almost as bad,but it could get better if they paid the R.C.P.D more and get rid of the old boy network!

I'd vote for that HYPO!! I

I'd vote for that HYPO!! I respectfully disagree that rap music is to blame...IMHO, it's lack of morals, education, and a generation of people who are a bunch of followers and not leaders. They look for praise from their peers...it's kind of like the onset of gang activity in the 70's. It has to be stopped now or we will have another epidemic. Make them all dig holes in the desert, get oatmeal, PB&J, tomato soup, and luke warm water...soon word will get back to the hood that crime doesn't pay!

Another sad loss, a life

Another sad loss, a life taken that meant nothing to the taker of that young life. It's sad but this type thing is happening everyday in cities across this country, not just Augusta. Until drugs and gangs are taken under control it will continue to happen but I fear that it has grown so out of control that there is nothing that can be done. I pray for us all.

I totally agree with the

I totally agree with the HYPO. No 1st Offender Status for violent crimes. Murder should carry a MINIUM 15 year sentence. No parole, no early release, no early release for good behavior. Hell, in jail aren't you suppose to behave. No breaks for doing what you are suppose to do. The suspect should be the 1st manhunt of the year. Hunt them down like a dog.

He looks like such a fine,

He looks like such a fine, upstanding citizen. Probably a "good kid", "always willing to help", and an "honor roll student" as well. His mom will probably be coming along to tell us that in no time.

What if he was Signal, what

What if he was Signal, what are you are saying? If one of your precious children was to have this type of fate wouldn't you be online or TV saying those exact words that his mom (if they interview her) would say? or maybe some of your childs friends/neighbors? Maybe just maybe he was an honor roll student and was a decent young man? Get real, somebody might have to say that about your child or even you one day.

Wow...Now if this murderer

Wow...Now if this murderer will get what he deserves oh what a message that will send to the next would be murderer...Oh I can just hear this fine upstanding young man one day looking back on his achievements and proudly proclaim to all who will listen "I committed the first murder of the year 2009 in Augusta Ga. Special huh"...These crimes will continue to escalate since a criminal's civil rights come first all the while the victims are continuously thrown under the bus...

LadyCisback, I was just home

LadyCisback, I was just home in IL for Thanksgiving. My family still leaves the keys in the car and house unlocked. A couple days ago I said that I was feeling the same, that there are no more safe places...then I left Augusta. The U.S. is fine, however; Augusta is doomed

blaqbird07, I agree with you

blaqbird07, I agree with you except for one thing, It was a black officer and a hispanic officer who shot Elmore. Why was that a race issue in the first place?

You never heard me make it a race issue....READ the post. My anger is at my own people because we are still fighting the wrong battles. Why be mad at something you can not change. The police are still going to do what they have to do. You can not stop that. It seems when WE feel like an injustice is done, in order to right that injustice we fight it with the same violence. But when that violent act comes from within our own communities its ok. NO. Now is the time to be mad. Be mad at the thugs that continue to kill our children. The thugs that continue to rob you of your safety. When does it stop? Its not about race. Its about right and wrong.

It matters only that the

It matters only that the police killed Mr. Elmore, as police only represent the white power base, all of their actions are " white " without reguard to the actual racial background of the individual.
You know that its true.
