Carolina claims division title, claims No. 2 seed

For a few moments Sunday afternoon, the possibility of the Atlanta Falcons claiming the NFC South and the No. 2 seed in the playoffs was alive. The New Orleans Saints had just taken a 31-30 lead on Drew Brees 13-yard touchdown pass to Lance Moore.

But in the end, the Panthers rallied and won thanks to a 42-yard field goal by John Kasay, his fourth of the day. The victory secured the NFC South and a bye week.

Jerious Norwood's 45-yard touchdown scamper with 3:41 left lifted the Falcons past the St. Louis Rams, 31-24, and secured the fifth seed in the playoffs. As it stands, Atlanta will travel to face No. 4 Arizona, next week.
