AIKEN - A 22-year-old Edgefield man was killed this morning in a head-on collision in Edgefield County.

Kevin Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by the Edgefield County coroner.

According to Lance Cpl. Scot Edgeworth of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision occurred about 9 a.m. on Garrett Road, about 13 miles south of Edgefield.

Mr. Brown, who was driving a GMC truck and was not wearing his seat belt, was traveling south, and the other vehicle, a Chevrolet pickup driven by 20-year-old John Cody Brown of Martinez, was traveling north when the two trucks collided on the two-lane secondary road.

There was no information on John Cody Brown's injuries. The coroner’s office said the two men are not related.

Lance Cpl. Edgeworth said the cause of the accident was under investigation.
