Between 200 and 300 people took to the streets of the Cherry Tree Crossing public housing project this afternoon in an impromptu march following the funeral of Justin Elmore.

Mr. Elmore, 23, was fatally shot by police Dec. 14 after they said he tried to run over them in his vehicle. His death prompted public demonstrations over several days, and is being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

A march for a drug dealer?

A march for a drug dealer? This is getting out of hand. Call it what it really is: an illegal assembly.

So what are they going to do,

So what are they going to do, just stand around in the street? I say anyone that wants to get out of line gets evicted from that free or low rent housing they are getting. What happened is a shame but Elmore knew he was probably fixing to go behind bars for a long time because of his criminal history and he chose his path. So pray for his family and their loss and move on people!!!!!

I am black...just want to put

I am black...just want to put emphasis on it. This is by far the most RIDICULOUS thing. Let it go people please. Why does it have to come to this, this is only making the situation worse? If you want to protest why not bring about something positive instead of all this drama? Show the youth how you can take a stand and make a positive change from such an unfortunate incident. I beg you...

It says in the contract for

It says in the contract for these section 8 homes that any criminal activity results in eviction. Alot of people could be potentially homeless... but that would bring on a WHOLE new problem for Augusta...

Concerned... were you talking to the marchers or to us. Because I highly doubt that the marchers read the Chronicle (or what's left of the Chronicle).

Okay. Let's put all this

Okay. Let's put all this energy into something more positive, volunteering at our children's schools, cleaning up the neighborhood, assisting an elderly neighbor or family member. I'm sorry this happened to this young man. I just wonder if these concerned citizens will be around to help care for his children on a day-to-day basis.

If you qualify for section 8

If you qualify for section 8 it's in the contract. Of course do not quote me on this but I'm more than sure that it is a clause. If you are found to be involved in any criminal activity, the contract becomes void and the person is "supposed" to be removed from housing.

Evidently some one invited

Evidently some one invited him to speak. I think it is wasted time holding a march for him but as long as it's peaceful that is their choice. Too many on here hold such venom for Sharpton until it's sickening.

Nay Sayer, I believe you are correct. A person can also qualify for eviction if someone residing there is involved in criminal activity.

Concerned Citizen, I really

Concerned Citizen, I really feel for the members of the black community like you who are upstanding and productive citizens. It has to be so frustrating to you to see the efforts of so many misdirected when those efforts could be turned into positive education for the youth of the community.

KSL..thank you. It is

KSL..thank you. It is frustrating to read the comments, a lot of them being racist toward the black community, however, some of it is true but the wording could be a lot less calmer and not directed toward all black. I get along with everyone and I work and go to school to try and better myself and many blacks to the same. I would just like a fair shot and not hindered because of someone else. And I mean this in the utmost respect.

So far, I have not been shown

So far, I have not been shown pushback b/c of the color of my skin and it makes me feel at ease. I can not relate to racial profiling b/c it has never happened to me. I just hate being in the word "they" when it is not me. I have no criminal record, in fact I am studying law.

Families who love and care

Families who love and care for their children GENERALLY produce adults who respect and abide by the law, give to those less fortunate, and are responsible for their own economic status. Families who breed incessantly and teach their children to hate GENERALLY produce adults who do the same. There is nothing racial, it's all about environment. If you don't like the environment in which you live: A)Quit bringing children into that sad environment and B) improve yourself. No one else is going to do a damn thing for you.

Well I have been racially

Well I have been racially profiled on several occasions and as long as it is done in a respectful way, I have no problem with it. one time I had to call a Supervisor because the deputy was wasting my time because he could. Do your check and let the person b on his/her way.

I would not say destroy them

I would not say destroy them because believe it or not, there are some good people there. They may have fallen on hard times, handicap, or elderly and not able to afford the cost of living. Not all of the residents are trouble makers.
