Police are searching for a man they believe robbed a Martinez store this morning.

A Columbia County sheriff's canine unit is searching the wooded area behind the Dollar General for a man who robbed the store at gunpoint just before 9 a.m.

The man was armed with a semi-automatic pistol, according to police scanner traffic. He fled on foot into the wooded area.

The robber was described as black, about 6-feet tall, medium build and wearing a red, black and tan jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt, a white collared shirt and black pants.

Though reports are unclear if anyone was hurt during the robbery, an investigator at the scene said everyone was "OK."

"30.00 dollars can buy a

"30.00 dollars can buy a hit...crack heads will do it every time..make it legal and we wouldn't have this" - instead we will have a society of drugged up crackheads - nice TEDDY1. Why don't you solicit your congressman and see if you can get him to act on this? I don't think it would fly on the state level.

We already have the society

We already have the society of drugged up crackheads. If it were lega, would you run out and start smoking crack? I wouldn't. I'll tell you what it would do- eliminate the pushers at the schoolyards that push this garbage on young impressionable people. It would eliminate the violent crime that gangbangers commit in their pursuit of selling their poison.

I may be wrong but I believe

I may be wrong but I believe these dollar general stores continue to get robbed because they are a cash only business and wont accept credit cards. At least back in the day they were but things may have changed? Just a thought.

"steve-o" is right when he

"steve-o" is right when he states, "...eliminate the pushers at the schoolyards that push this garbage on young impressionable people." Who are supposed to be watching our schools' yards and parking lots and restrooms to prevent this diabolical trade?

Hey "steve-o", who is going

Hey "steve-o", who is going to eliminate the pushers at the schoolyards? The teachers are too busy having sex with the school safety officers. And from the news this week, the boys are too busy lining up for services from the young "ladies" to be worried about smoking crack! If I had the choice between drugs and oral sex in middle school, I would have been lined up out back myself!

In response to standing tall, it is more likely the robber WAS spanked as a child, IMHO. Just kidding. My statement makes no more sense than yours does. I hope no one took your statement seriously.

Blame it on the economy.. and

Blame it on the economy.. and it's not getting any better!! 12:02 PM post.........that's the stupidest statement I've ever heard. People who DO rob, will rob, it has nothing to do with the economy. When the economy was good, these types still robbed. Whether it's to support their drug habit or whatever, there is a segment of society too lazy to get off their duffs and actually work. Their thinking is, if you have it, and I want it, I'm going to rob you to get it........their own version of "redistributing the wealth", I guess!
