A Grovetown woman was killed early today in a single-vehicle crash.

Kenyatta Mary Francis, 24, was pronounced dead at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, said Columbia County Assistant Coroner Bonnie Holloway.

Ms. Francis was driving north on Baker Place Road shortly before 9 a.m. when her 1993 Lincoln Town Car left the wet road, struck a guard rail and flipped near Interstate 20, said Columbia County Sheriff’s Capt. Bill Probus.

Ms. Francis, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed when she was ejected from the vehicle and the car landed on top of her, Mrs. Holloway said.

where does it say she did not

where does it say she did not have a seatbelt on? wearing a seatbelt won't necessarily keep you from being ejected.

It doesn't matter if a seatbelt was being worn or not. the fact is that a woman lost her life and people should respect the fact that she has a family out there. I pray for the family members in this time of sorrow.

I hope no one jumps to

I hope no one jumps to conclusions regarding the different names. It is part of many women's lives that if they ever marry, and sometimes, marry/divorce more than once, they have different names over each marital status change and it takes awhile, a usually a lot of money to lawyers and fees, to get all their official papers, credit cards, and ID up-to-date. In the meantime, it is sad that there has been another loss of life in an accident, especially at this time of year, it is even more poignant. My condolences to anyone and everyone that loves her.

It is sad. I just feel for the woman's family. Instead of planning for Ms. Francis's future goals, her family will be planning for her burial.

FortGordonGA-Edst4 was angry

FortGordonGA-Edst4 was angry with Iceman's comment which I see has now been removed also. Iceman's comment was totally uncalled for in this terrible situation. His comment was very cold and callous and I think Edst4 let his anger get the best of him. I guess he needs to think before he types. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family during this difficult time.
