All weather watches have expired, the National Weather Service says, but a lake wind advisory remains in effect until midnight.

The calm follows a rainy night and stormy morning when a band of heavy rain and winds swept through the region.

Despite the storm's high winds, weather observers in McDuffie, Columbia, Richmond and Jefferson counties said there appeared to be little impact from the swift-moving storm.

In Columbia County, emergency management officials reported some flooding at Lake Jean, Greenbrier Creek at Yelton Road and Kiokee Creek.

We are still under a Tornado

We are still under a Tornado Watch until 7 p.m. I am glad that we were spared the worst. Tornado Warnings were in effect for Laurens County and currently are in effect for Newberry and Fairfield counties.

This Lake Jean thing is no big deal. Water goes over the road there every time we get some rain. Just happened to be a little more today!
