That National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Edgefield, McCormick, Saluda, Columbia, Lincoln, McDuffie and Richmond counties until 8 p.m.

The advisory comes as a line of thunderstorms packing heavy rains moves through the area.

One to two inches of additional rainfall should be expected in the next three hours in the area, according to a release from Columbia County Emergency Services Director Pam Tucker.

Already today, more than an inch of rain has been reported in the Ivy Falls subdivision in Columbia County, Mrs. Tucker's release states.

A flood advisory means there are elevated rivers or streams and ponding is either occurring or is imminent.
