SC man gets life for killing fishing preacher

BARNWELL, S.C. - A Williston man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing a 51-year-old Springfield minister as he fished along the banks of the Edisto River.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports a jury deliberated about an hour Thursday before finding 32-year-old William Owens guilty of murder.

Prosecutors say Owens shot the Rev. Phillip McCreary Sr. in the back of the head as he was on his knees near the state Highway 39 bridge in July 2007.

Owens' former girlfriend testified he bragged about blowing a man's head off. Some of McCreary's jewelry was found in Owens' home, but no DNA evidence linked Owens to the killing.

Circuit Judge Jack Early called it the most senseless killing he has ever seen.

Yes D some killings do make

Yes D some killings do make sense. Such as never meant to kill but the person resisted and tried to kill the perp so the perp killed first in the tustle, or the victim killed the perp in defense, right or wrong those make sense, to kill an unarmed man for no reason after robbing him when there is no need nor danger is senseless. But besides that, he said the most sensless he has seen, just as in to most people wasting money is senseless like on things you dont need, the most senseless is to waste all your money burning it because you are bored.... get it?? DD are you playing devils advocate or something these days??? lol Some of your posts dont seem like you!!! haha Either way, I think we can agree to give this [filtered word] the slow drip!!!!!!! LOL
