John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School was named by the Georgia Department of Education as one of 26 Schools of Excellence this morning.

Today's recognition honors schools in each congressional district in two categories: greatest improvement and highest achievement. Davidson was honored for being in the top 10 percent of schools in Georgia as measured by assessments in reading and mathematics.

The Georgia Schools of Excellence will be honored at a banquet on Jan. 23 at the Georgia International Conference Center in College Park.
