Aiken man called a suspect in Tuesday's Waffle House robbery

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has linked an Aiken man to an armed robbery Tuesday at the Waffle House, 105 Frontage Road, police said today.

Timothy L. Lakes, 23, of the 100 block of Jack Jones Street, will be charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to a statement from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

According to a narrative released by authorities, about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday a man walked into the restaurant. He grabbed a steak knife from a table, jumped over the counter and demanded money from employees. The man received an amount of money from the cash register. He dropped the knife as he left the restaurant and sped away in a dark silver automobile.
