Obama group said coming to Augusta to campaign for Martin

  • Follow Latest News

A contingent of President-elect Barack Obama campaign workers are expected to arrive in Augusta this week to help Jim Martin in his bid to unseat U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss.

Richmond County Democratic Party Chairman Lowell Greenbaum told a group of Columbia County Democrats Monday night that Mr. Obama is sending 15 people to Augusta to organize an area campaign on behalf of Mr. Martin.

Though the Georgia Secretary of State's Office has not yet certified votes, Mr. Martin likely will be part of a Dec. 2 runoff election against Mr. Chambliss for a U.S. Senate seat.

Mr. Chambliss took about 1.9 million votes to Mr. Martin's about 1.8 million. Libertarian candidate Allen Buckley won about 128,000 votes.

Neither Mr. Chambliss nor Mr. Martin won the 50-percent majority needed to avoid a run-off.

"We are very excited," Mr. Greenbaum said. "If we knock off Saxby Chambliss, this state is going blue."

The campaign workers are in need of housing during their stay in Augusta. Mr. Greenbaum asked Columbia County Democrats for their support during the runoff election.

Don't get too excited, Mr.

Don't get too excited, Mr. Greenbaum. Palin is coming to campaign for Saxby. She is far more exciting than anyone - including Obama himself - that you can bring in.

Mr. Greenbaum, did you not

Mr. Greenbaum, did you not pay attention to election night? This state voted red. Bringing Obamas crew here will only give Sen. Chambliss the upper hand.

So Obama won the presidency,

So Obama won the presidency, and the talking heads say we should respect him and the office of the presidency. I promise to give Mr. Obama the same respect as Lowell Greenbaum gave President Bush -- no respect whatsoever! Mr. Obama and his black panthers can visit Augusta and Columbia County all they want. We'll still re-elect Senator Chambliss!

let me tell you something

let me tell you something mr.csrareader, why would you address mr.obama and his people as '' black panthers''? it's people like you that is the reason why we're trying to stop the '' race issue'' now in this country!!! when mr.obama ran his race not one time did he mention 'black, white, red, or brown, in his campaigne !! he referred to everyone as a people and you might need to learn to do the same!!! b/c guest what the world all over is glad to have him (obama) and not you''redneck dixie flag flying republicans in office!!!! and if you must address mr.obama and his people as ''black panther's '' in the future at least they're trying to help change this world !!! which is more than we as a whole nation wide can say for yall ''republicans'' which is why macain & palin lost. we the world as a whole are glad to see a great change and so should everyone else. god has a hand in this election and we are living in what the word of god has stated in the bible so if you read it you should understand it and that no man or woman can stop what god has planned for this world, b/c before it's all over we all will live in peace!!!!

Obama's and Dean's GOTV and

Obama's and Dean's GOTV and 50 state strategy worked and has a great chance of working again in GA. With the Obama resources and know how, this will be a bigger challenge for Chicken Hawk Chambliss than he or the GOP bargained for. Time to send more money to Vietnam Vet Jim Martin.

Well I see Broun is

Well I see Broun is retracting calling Obama marxist LOL, he's making national news now and has another tune now. Now he's scared, retracting and regretting saying what he did in comparing Obama to Hitler. That's funny, why don't he stand up and continue to proclaim. I just wish he had said it during his campaign bid, surely he WOULD NOT BE a Georgia Rep.

In an interview with the New

In an interview with the New Republic, Mike Kruglik, one of Obama’s early mentors in the fine art of community activism, said of Obama, “He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation, who could engage a room full of recruiting targets in a rapid-fire Socratic dialogue, nudging them to admit that they were not living up to their own standards… he could be aggressive and confrontational. With probing, sometimes personal questions, he would pinpoint the source of pain in their lives, tearing down their egos just enough before dangling a carrot of hope that they could make things better.” That modus operandi is what Obama follows on the campaign trail: list the many things that people believe are wrong with America, get the crowd riled up and angry and feeling hopeless, and then present himself as the one who can save them from their problems – regardless of whether he can.

Chambliss called Obama a

Chambliss called Obama a Marixt?! This is a perfect case in point of NOT having enough wisdom to NOT say certain things. Calling Obama a Marxist was unfounded and a stupid thing for any member of Congress to say about any President Elect. Let anyone who has any insight reading this consider the divisive and recklessness of this comment...(regardless of how you might feel about Obama).
