North Augusta man, 48, charged in 1990s sex assaults on girls

A 48-year-old North Augusta man, accused of sexually assaulting two young girls over a three year period, surrendered Thursday to investigators at the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a statement released today by the Sheriff's Office, John D. Jury of the 1700 block of Georgia Avenue, is in jail on nine counts of lewd act upon a minor.

According to the sheriff’s office, between 1996 and 1999, the suspect fondled the two victims, who ranged in age from 6 to 13 years old, at a home in Graniteville
