World Series pushed back again

PHILADELPHIA – The World Series won’t resume until Wednesday night at the earliest.

With rain still falling in Philadelphia, Major League Baseball decided not to attempt to complete Game 5 on Tuesday night.

The game, played in increasingly heavy rain, was suspended Monday following a 30-minute delay with the Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays tied 2-2 after 5½ innings. It was the first time a World Series game wasn’t played to completion on the same day.

Baseball should end by Oct. 10 at the latest. But the greed and forever long playoffs make for big profits. This is ridiculous!

MLB will never shorten the schedule, but it could schedule every team to have a few doubleheaders throughout the year to shorten the schedule calendar-wise. That would allow them to play the same number of games, but finish the regular season a bit earlier.

thistown, the only way the owners will allow doubleheaders is to play day/night and be able to sell tickets separate. they will never give up 81 games of gate receipts. I think the season should end about Oct. 20 absolute latest, Oct. 10 according to greenjacket will never happen.
