4500 pounds of marijuana seized at Savannah Port

  • Follow Latest News

GARDEN CITY, Ga. - Officials say nearly 4,500 pounds of marijuana has been seized from a ship at the Garden City Terminal of the Port of Savannah.

Area port director for customs in Savannah, John Porter, said Wednesday the seizure resulted from beefed-up enforcement at the port.

He said, "The marijuana was uncovered during a security sweep using high-tech X-ray equipment capable of scanning entire containers."

Timothy Sushil, who served with the customs field operations office in Atlanta, said the narcotics were discovered aboard a vessel arriving from Jamaica. He said the street value of the marijuana was more than $3 million.

I remember the diesel weed from the early 80's. Was recovered from a plane crash. People smoked it anyways.

Well mindypoo meth is made

Well mindypoo meth is made right here in the CSRA area ie. Columbia County and they do not choose to stop the cocaine dealers who import cocaine into the US because its a major market. The people you see in Harrisburg selling illegal drugs don't own any planes or boats.

Legalize and tax marijuana.

Legalize and tax marijuana. Put in the same DUI laws as alcohol. The worst thing a pothead does is raid a refrigerator.

cmcc -- "...pot makes you think with common sense?" WHAT?
I've heard some the stupidest questions asked while folks were high! One question we always joke about is when a college roommate got high and asked (and was dead serious), "Why do we have hair on our knuckles, both hands and feet?" This prompted him to rant about it for a solid hour!!!
...there's your common sense alright!

Good. Now protect your persons and property, there are going to be some desperate folks short on the supply side in this area who are going to be looking elsewhere for fast cash.

I suspect those "cousins"

I suspect those "cousins" from Chatham county that used to visit the drug-traffickers nearby in the old neighborhood won't be visiting for awhile.

Long before the police and

Long before the police and "Burglar Boy Nixon" Thought they had a right to anything that individual drug use deprives the country of, the American Citizen had a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It's time we wake up and take our rights back and stop letting the government dictate those rights. Trillions of dollars wasted on the war on drugs, millions of people deprived of their human right to injest whatever they please and the millions of americans who have been given criminal records as the result of them exercising free choice. Really people, if we aren't free to medicate ourselves; just how free are we? These laws are in place simply to ensure that we the people remain corporate and economic slaves to the powers that be forever.
