Georgia submits response on voter check challenge

  • Follow Latest News

ATLANTA - The U.S. Justice Department has received Georgia's response to a challenge of the state's voter identity and citizenship verification system.

The department told state officials last week that it thought Georgia had made changes to its voting process that needed prior clearance from the Department of Justice under the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The department has 60 days to review Georgia's response, but with less than three weeks before the general election, officials said it would grant a request for an expedited review.

Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker wrote in a 15-page memo that the state believes that the processes in question were mandated by Congress or were authorized under the state's election code.

Desperation? Republicans

Desperation? Republicans aren't the ones who have a problem with people having to prove they have the right to vote before they vote. Desperation is on the loony lib side, the same side that has to steal elections to win. See the Washington state Gregoire/Rossi election. See the Daley era.

Everyone should be allowed to

Everyone should be allowed to vote as often as they wish, even if they're not American citizens or Georgia residents. This vote check is just another attempt at trying to keep the black man down. Vote Obama, no laws that don't support marxism and more taxes for everyone.

Where did this issue populate

Where did this issue populate from? I hope this is not something to cause votes to not be counted or something. What's the deal about the clearance and verification issue? So will the memo that Mr. Baker present be what needed to bring closure?
