AIKEN - A 29-year-old Aiken man accused of stealing $500,000 worth of weight loss pills turned himself in this morning to Aiken County sheriff’s deputies.

Jeremy A. Jones of Shiloh Heights Road is in jail on charges of 16 counts of grand larceny more than $5,000.

According to a news release, Mr. Jones was employed as a temporary worker at Glaxo Smith Kline from July until December of last year, during which time he stole 16 plastic bags, each weighing about 45 pounds, of Alli weight loss capsules from the company’s warehouse.

The suspect repackaged the pills and sold them on eBay. A customer in Oregon complained about the packaging to the Internet company, which aided investigators in identifying Mr. Jones as the seller, the news release said.
