Man involved in boat crash surrenders

SOCASTEE, S.C. - Two men who police said were fleeing from a burglary when their boat struck another vessel, killing a 13-year-old Aiken boy, are in cutody, according to authorities.

Nicholas Macklenm 28, turned himself in to police late today, the Myrtle Beach Sun News reported. He was charged with first degree burglary.

On Monday Horry County police and the Department of Natural Resources arrested 22-year-old Brandon Scott McDevitt and charged him with first-degree burglary. Authorities say the two men were fleeing from the burglary when struck the other vessel on the Intracoastal Waterway near Socastee, killing Shayne Odermatt and seriously injuring three others.

Police said they also have arrested Amber Nicole Walker and Elizabeth L. Parness and charged them with accessory after the fact of a felony.

Authorities say the men broke into a house and stole a television before taking off in the boat.
