A Hephzibah couple and their son are in jail after police say they raided their home and found them cooking meth with their 4-year-old grandson inside.

Raymond Burbine, 47, Melissa Burbine, 43, and 19-year-old Alexander Burbine were arrested early this morning, according to Richmond County Sheriff’s jail committals.

Sheriff’s narcotics investigators raided their trailer, in the 4100 block of Woodard Avenue, about 11 p.m. Thursday, Sheriff’s Sgt. Allan Rollins said.

Inside, investigators say they found methamphetamine that was settling into the finished product.

“It had been cooked and was in the process of drying and separation,” Sgt. Rollins said.

The child was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital to be checked out.

Sgt. Rollins said the concoction would have resulted in a “couple of grams” of meth and that the product could be smelled in the air.

Raymond, Melissa and Alexander Burbine all face charges of manufacturing meth and presence of children during the manufacture of meth - a misdemeanor.
