Malcom Frazier, 47, died this morning from injuries suffered in the Feb. 7 sugar plant explosion outside Savannah.

Mr. Frazier, who had been in critical condition for more than six months at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Augusta's Doctors Hospital, died at 12:50 a.m., according to a hospital news release.

“We mourn over the death of every burn patient, but this one was particularly hard,” said Keith Donker, RN, night charge at the Burn Center, in a news statement. “There is something very special about this family. Over six months, we came to love them dearly. The Frazier family is part of our burn family, and we grieve with them in the loss of their son and brother.”

The burn center initially received 20 patients injured in the Imperial Sugar plant explosion. Six patients died as a result of their burn injuries, 13 were discharged and one patient remains in critical condition.
