Richmond County authorities said today they are closing their investigation into the death of the husband of Betty Neumar after receiving forensic results from his ashes.
Investigators seized the ashes of John Neumar in May, after the arrest of his wife on suspicion that she solicited help in murdering a former husband in North Carolina.
Richmond County sheriff's Investigator James Kelly said the test showed small traces of barium, a common radioactive isotope used in medical tests, in Mr. Neumar’s system.
“We’re going to end up closing the case,” Investigator Kelly said. “He had many medical problems, so it looks like it was just that time.”
