COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. - Rich "Goose" Gossage has been inducted into the Hall of Fame after a career of more than two decades in which he was one of baseball's most menacing relievers.

Gossage was enshrined Sunday with former manager Dick Williams, who won World Series titles in 1972 and 1973 with Oakland. He also took Boston and San Diego to the World Series.

Gossage was a nine-time All-Star. He joins Bruce Sutter, Hoyt Wilhelm, Rollie Fingers and Dennis Eckersley as the only relievers in Cooperstown.

Among those also inducted were former commissioner Bowie Kuhn, former Dodgers owner Walter O'Malley and former manager Billy Southworth. Southworth was born in Harvard, Neb.
