Greg Norman shot 2-over-par 72 today to take the lead after 54 holes at the British Open.

Norman, 53, is trying to become the oldest winner of one of golf's four majors. The Australian won the British Open in 1986 and 1993, and suffered playoff losses in the other three majors.

Norman holds a two-shot lead over defending champion Padraig Harrington and K.J. Choi at Royal Birkdale. Simon Wakefield is three shots back and alone in fourth place.
