According to Department of Public Safety reports, two workers had closed Ruby Tuesday restaurant on Knox Avenue just before 1 a.m. and were leaving when a man emerged from the bushes and demanded that they take him to the restaurant’s money.
Once inside the restaurant, the man forced them to turn off the alarm and fill a to-go bag with the money from the safe, cash drawer and deposit. He then took their cell phones and put them in the bag containing more than $2,000 before closing them in a walk-in cooler, the police report said. The victims pulled an alarm inside of the cooler to alert police.
Officers believe the suspect left the scene in a vehicle that was parked behind Goodwill Industries, which is located in a shopping center behind the restaurant.
The victims describe the suspect as a black man, possibly 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing between 180-200 pounds.
