Augusta’s first professional basketball team in 13 years finally has a home.

Augusta Groove co-owner Gary Perry confirmed this afternoon that the Atlanta-based ownership group reached an agreement with Augusta State University officials earlier Thursday to use Christenberry Fieldhouse for the Groove’s home games.

“We’re definitely pleased,” Perry said. “This was something that we wanted, and we’re glad that we could get this part completed.”

Perry said the team will hold a news conference on July 16 at 10 a.m. at Augusta State to formally announce the agreement.
