Bob Ferguson’s three-year run as head coach of the Augusta Lynx has come to an end.

The Lynx announced Tuesday afternoon that Ferguson has accepted an assistant general manager position with the Anaheim Ducks’ American Hockey League affiliate in Iowa. The team, formerly known as the Iowa Stars, established a new affiliation with the Ducks this off-season and will hold a news conference Wednesday to announce a new name, logo and colors and to introduce Ferguson as the newest member of the front office.

“The entire organization wishes Bob the best in his new opportunity,” general manager Dan Troutman said in a statement released by the team Tuesday afternoon. “While we will miss his leadership behind the Lynx bench, we were pleased to grant Anaheim’s request to speak with and ultimately hire Bob.”

Ferguson, the sixth head coach in the 10-year history of the Lynx, has led the team since the 2005-06 season. The Lynx never missed the playoffs under his leadership and tallied a 101-100-6-9 record in 216 regular season games over the past three years.
