Lanes closures to be suspended

To ease traffic congestion during the holiday week, Georgia transportation officials will suspend interstate lane closures, starting Wednesday.

The state Department of Transportation will halt lane closures at the Interstate 20-Bobby Jones Expressway interchange and other projects on all interstate and major state highways, starting at noon.

Lanes will remain open until 5 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the DOT.

Some construction work might continue on less-traveled state and local roads.
