Aiken police are looking for a man who they say attempted an armed robbery at an area hotel late Wednesday.

Lt. David Turno with the Aiken Department of Public Safety said that just after 10 p.m. a black male with a heavy build and full beard around 6 feet, 2 inches tall entered the Holiday Inn Express off Whiskey Road.

The suspect pulled a gun on the front desk clerk demanding money; when the clerk fled to a backroom, the suspect ran out of the front entrance, Lt. Turno said.

No injuries were reported and the suspect got away with nothing, according to police.

Lt. Turno said the department’s blood hound unit was out searching for the suspect.
