ATHENS, Ga. -- University of Georgia football coach Mark Richt will be featured on the front of boxes of Wheaties cereal.
Richt blushed as a large poster of the box cover was unveiled at a Tuesday news conference.
"That's pretty humbling," Richt said.
School mascot Uga VI is pictured on the bottom right corner of the back of the box, making him only the second animal to be featured on a Wheaties box, said Alan Thomas, UGA associate athletic director for external affairs. The box also shows an aerial picture of Sanford Stadium.
The Georgia Bulldogs are one of three college football teams that will be featured on Wheaties boxes, which have been adorned by hundreds of athletes and teams since 1934. Wheaties representatives declined to name the other two schools, but said UGA's box has been distributed in the Southeast.
"That's where we recruit, so that's a big deal," Richt said. "Any high school-aged kid over 6-3, 240, who runs a 4.5, if you'd let him have a free box, that'd be good."
