THOMSON -- A 16-year-old junior at Thomson High School is the second person to die from injuries in a head-on collision that occurred Sunday night on the Wrens Highway near Thomson.

Chrystal Williams, who had been listed in critical condition at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital in Augusta since the wreck, died at 7:11 a.m. today, according to McDuffie County Coroner Rhusha Mack.

Steven Wilson, 20, of Boneville, the driver of a Saturn, was killed instantly in the 9:40 p.m. crash in front of Doodle Hill Trailer Park, about 2½ miles south of Thomson.

Two of the six persons injured in the other vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee, remained in critical condition at MCG on Friday, according to a hospital spokeswoman. They include 1-year-old Alicia Kelly, of Wrens; and Eric Hannah, 18, a former standout football player at Jefferson County High School.

Earlier this week, a Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team from Gainesville examined the crash site and both vehicles searching for evidence that would pinpoint how the wreck happened.

Cpl. D.F. Lunsford said results of such an investigation could take between six months and a year to establish such findings.
