SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The popular downtown restaurant The Lady & Sons, owned by celebrity cook Paula Deen, didn't skip a fried-chicken beat after a minor fire late Sunday.

The fire was reported about 11 p.m. at the Congress Street restaurant and was under control by 11:20 p.m.

A line about 25 deep had formed by 10 a.m. today for lunch, and by lunchtime customers were being served after the the health department gave its OK.

Paula Deen, her husband, Michael Groover, and her sons, Jamie Deen and Bobby Deen, were on the scene soon after the fire broke out.

Jamie Deen said it's the first fire the restaurant has had in 20 years. Although the cause remained under investigation, Jamie Deen said he thinks the fire started in a bag of rags.

"I think if we get one round of fried chicken goin' in here you won't smell the smoke at all," he said early today.
