AIKEN -- A fast moving storm swept through the northern part of the city of Aiken this afternoon, knocking out electrical power to about 2,800 customers for more than two hours, officials said.

Power was restored about 7:30 p.m., but was out long enought to cancel tonight's meeting of the Aiken City Council.

The summer storm lasted only about 5 minutes and did not seem to hit the south side of Aiken, police said.
