Former Greenbrier standout first baseman Rich Poythress went 2-for-4 from the plate today to help lead Georgia to an 11-4 win over N.C. State in their best-of-three NCAA Super Regional series at Foley Field.

The Bulldogs (40-22-1) used a five-run sixth inning to break open the game. Starter Trevor Holder pitched into the ninth inning to notch the victory.

Game 2, which begins at noon Saturday, will be shown on ESPN. Game 3, if necessary, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The winner of the series advances to the eight-team College World Series, which begins June 14 in Omaha, Neb.
