ATHENS, Ga. -- A vengeful ex-lover who had threatened to ruin his former girlfriend's life used social networking sites to impersonate her and posted nude photos of her on the Internet, according to Athens-Clarke police.

Jared Kyle Wolny, 24, even set up spyware on his ex's computer so he could monitor what she was doing on the Internet and used his cell phone secretly to videotape the two of them having sex in a movie theater, according to court documents filed after police arrested Mr. Wolny on Tuesday.

Mr. Wolny is free after posting a $6,400 bond -- $200 for each of 32 misdemeanor crimes he faces in connection with his alleged harassment of the 21-year-old woman.

Police charged Mr. Wolny with 14 counts of computer invasion for accessing his girlfriend's computer and Internet accounts, 14 counts of computer theft for using a computer to steal her private information, two counts of using prohibited software to monitor her Internet use, one count of computer forgery and one count of identity fraud for impersonating her.

Mr. Wolny could also face a more serious charge of aggravated stalking, but police left it up to the Clarke County District Attorney's Office to decide whether to bring that charge.

Mr. Wolny was arrested after the girlfriend called police to ask for protection and Athens-Clarke Police Detective Dustin Smith investigated for nearly two months. The pair, both University of Georgia students, met last August and moved in together in October but broke up in January, even though they were still living in the same Cedar Creek Drive apartment, she told police.

Mr. Wolny did not physically abuse her, but made her life miserable in other ways, she said.

When she met a new boyfriend on MySpace and the man spent a Saturday night with her -- at the apartment she and Mr. olny still shared -- Mr. Wolny hung photos of himself and the woman all over the apartment, she told police.

Her ex-lover also put a fog machine next to an air conditioning intake vent, sending fog throughout the apartment, she said.

The next day, after the new boyfriend left, Mr. Wolny, pretending to be the woman, carried on an e-mail conversation with the new boyfriend on the woman's MySpace account, she told police.

Posing as his former girlfriend, Mr. Wolny told the boyfriend that she still loved Mr. Wolny - and that she had a sexually transmitted disease, she said.

Mr. Wolny also used his sister's Facebook page to post nude photos of his girlfriend, she told police.

Mr. Wolny admitted to police that he posted the nude photos, according to police records filed May 23 as Detective Smith sought arrest warrants for Mr. Wolny.

Mr. Wolny also admitted that he had posed as his girlfriend on her MySpace account, but said he only did it once, according to court documents.

When a University of Georgia Police Department computer investigator searched the woman's computer, the detective found keylogging software that would allow a user to see the keystrokes of anyone who used the computer.

Last month, about two weeks after the girlfriend contacted police, investigators took a search warrant to Mr. Wolny's latest address on Broad Street and seized digital cameras, a laptop computer, two dozen CDs and DVDs and other computer storage devices.

Among the data on the storage devices were nude photos of the woman.

Police also found video images of Mr. Wolny and a woman, later confirmed to be his ex-girlfriend, having sex in a movie theater, police said.
