The Aiken County Sheriff's Office this afternoon arrested two North Augusta men, charging them with robbing a woman of her purse in the parking lot of Bank of America, 315 Edgefield Road, Belvedere.

Thomas M. Chambers, 23, and Matthew J. Chambers, 19, both of the 100 block of Palmetto Avenue, North Augusta, are charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime.

According to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, about 1:30 p.m., the brothers walked up to a woman seated in her car outside the bank. They suddenly produced a handgun and demanded her purse.

The pair then ran into a neighborhood behind the bank, where one was arrested almost immediately. About 3 p.m., the Aiken Bloodhound Tracking Team arrested the second individual.

Deputies recovered a handgun and the victim's money. Both men are being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.
