A raid this morning by the Richmond County Gang Task Force and Board of Education officers at Cross Creek High School led to suspension of more than 30 students.

Sheriff's Sgt. Blaise Dresser said his department received information last night that some students may be bringing weapons to school. Members of the sheriff's office and BOE police searched the school.

Although no weapons were found, a large number of students were suspended for a previous incident, Sgt. Dresser said.

He said several gangs, such as Uptown and Georgia Deadly Boys, have been active at the high school for some time but did not know whether any of those suspended were members of either group.

Deputies may return to the school at a later time, he said.
