Professional basketball will make a return to Augusta this fall.

The Atlanta Krunk, a defunct team out of the Continental Basketball Association, will be relocated to Augusta and become the Augusta Groove.

Team co-owner Gary Perry confirmed the plans to move on Friday and said "one minor detail" stood in the way of making an official announcement.

Perry, who resides in Atlanta as do the other two owners, Ricky Brown and Lavon Mercer, said he met with representatives from James Brown Arena, the Greater Augusta Sports Council and the chamber of commerce this week.

"Everything went as planned today, and everything's moving forward," Perry said Friday afternoon. "We're going to be in Augusta."

Perry said he must alert the CBA in writing of his intent to move the team from Atlanta to Augusta before the announcement can be made official. He said all three owners plan to meet Saturday in Augusta to help finalize the move.
